Archeologia dell’assenza is an enquiry into the trace, into the way an object — once it is no longer inhabited — becomes a find: a concrete fragment that speaks of what has been. No longer a simple everyday thing, but the silent witness to a passage, the legible sign of a presence now absent. In that silence the object becomes a find, the fragile document of a passage. It does not speak directly, but lets us sense. Here the image becomes a threshold between what has been and what still persists. The project rests on the idea that archaeology has to do not only with the remote past, but can be living material in the present as well: a visual and conceptual gesture that brings to light what is invisible yet still perceptible. Every object carries memory; every residual form recounts — discreetly — the story of an action performed, of a life that passed through that time and that space. Absence, here, is not a void to be filled but a presence displaced, visible only through what remains. The image does not show directly, but lets things surface. Human passage shows itself in the details, in the relations between things, in the way the object becomes the archaeological witness of the invisible. Archeologia dell’assenza does not try to reconstruct but to listen: it interprets, it layers, it reads what time has left behind. The work invites us to pause on this thin threshold, where the image becomes embodied memory, a bridge between what has been and what goes on vibrating, even without a body.
